The HR Benefits Coordinator will provide HR generalist support to the field management and staff company-wide. Under direction of the Director of HR, the HR Benefits Coordinator will coordinate on a day to day basis with non-exempt HR staff and management as it relates to HR benefits relations. In addition, the HR Benefits Coordinator will be responsible for working alongside DRJ’s benefits administrator(s), brokers, as well as HRIS vendors to ensure accuracy in leave/benefit production and human capital information.


  • Interpret and oversee company benefits and leave policy and procedures accurately and consistently to ensure alignment with company management practices.
  • Provide and be knowledgeable in state/federal benefit rights; counsel to field management to ensure adequate communication and proper adjudication of leave eligibility and obligations.
  • Provide proper guidance to HR staff on complex HR related benefit issues.
  • Ensure that employment practices adhere to DRJ policies and/or applicable employment laws to effectively manage company risk in coordination and guidance of the HR Director.
  • Coordinate with HR Personnel in conjunction of any policy changes and/or modifications to determine the delivery consistency across the organization.
  • Actively participate in the Corporate Succession Planning process.
  • Coordinate necessary HR benefit audits in a professional manner to monitor employee understanding & engagement as it relates to benefits/administration under the direction of the Director of HR.
  • Create and implement appropriate reports from ADP Workforce Now (HRIS) for third party vendors and certain corporate staff on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Coordinate with the Corporate Recruiter to assist in daily project within the HR department.
  • Perform other duties as deemed necessary by the HR Director.


  • Bi-lingual – written and verbal fluency in both English and Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field strongly preferred; additional experience in a similar role may suffice in lieu of education requirement.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of HR generalist experience, including communications, coaching and counseling, compensation administration and benefits/leave administration.
  • Excellent judgement skills with the ability to provide problem resolution in a timely manner
  • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certifications desirable, not required.
  • Strong understanding of CA State and Federal employment laws
  • Minimum 2 years utilizing reporting tools and analyzing reports with an organization of 500+ employees, preferably within ADP Workforce Now
  • Advance user of Microsoft Office Suites - Expert level user of Excel strongly desired
  • Prior experience in a retail environment a plus.
